The main objective of BEHICLE is to demonstrate and validate a new integrated urban EV approach which combines power requirements and balanced energetic performance for urban environments and fulfills 100% safety assessment according to Euro NCAP crash tests, with highly compatible design.

For this purpose, a light, affordable, safe, ergonomic and energy-efficient EV will be developed using existing technologies and able to comply with the desired power and battery-range requirements for urban environments. In order to close the gap between mopeds and vehicles, it is strictly necessary to develop safety systems that can be added to current vehicle structures. This project will develop new energy absorption modules which will be designed and prototyped for the new BEHICLE. BEHICLE project objectives, from a measurable point of view, can be summarized as:

  • Development of a lightweight architecture with a maximum vehicle weight of 550 kg with batteries and one occupant;
  • Acceleration 0-100 below 10 s;
  • Average energy consumption, 7 kWh/100 km;
  • 80 Wh/km energy consumption in real urban driving conditions;
  • At least 150 km pure electric range in real urban driving conditions;
  • EuroNCAP crash tests results of 4-5 stars.
